Altera's third-party intellectual property (IP) partnership program identifies megafunction developers, trains them on Altera® device architectures and tools, and promotes partners' solutions through Altera's broad marketing and sales channel. By carefully selecting and qualifying partners, Altera provides quality megafunctions while minimizing product overlaps.

Megafunction Certification
Third-party megafunctions that are certified according to the requirements of the Altera Megafunction Partners Program (AMPPSM) are optimized for the most current Altera device architectures and design software. Altera works closely with partners to ensure that their AMPP-approved megafunctions continually meet these standards. AMPP-approved megafunctions are listed in Altera's IP MegastoreTM website.
An AMPP-approved megafunction package typically contains the following items:
- Design file (typically a post-synthesis netlist)
- Evaluation license, such as the OpenCore evaluation
- Simulation mechanism
- Demonstration of basic functionality, such as the example testbench
- Documentation with revision control
Licensing Third-Party Megafunctions
Altera's third-party IP partners provide licenses for use of their AMPP-approved megafunctions with Altera devices. Designers should contact the appropriate partner for a price quote or evaluation of a specific megafunction.
AMPP megafunctions are licensed directly from AMPP partners. The terms and conditions for the license of each AMPP megafunction may vary from partner to partner. Each AMPP partner typically specifies the megafunction licensing terms based on the needs of the end user. AMPP megafunction license options may include:
- Duration of the license (for example, lifetime, 1 year, or 6 months)
- Source-code access
- OpenCore feature
AMPP-approved megafunctions are carefully developed by partners to ensure the highest possible quality. If a problem is traced to a megafunction, the partner is responsible for resolving the problem. If a problem arises with integrating the megafunction with other logic, Altera will provide appropriate engineering support.
Warranty
Partner megafunctions are provided without warranty from Altera. Altera expressly disclaims all warranties, express and implied, with respect to the megafunctions supplied by the IP partners, including, but not limited to, implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title and non-infringement.
The IP partners may offer guarantees or warranties for design performance or functionality; contact the individual partners for details.
