The Cyclone® PowerPlay early power estimator results are based on measured power data. The Cyclone PowerPlay early power estimator provides a current (ICC) and power (P) estimate based on typical conditions (room temperature and nominal VCC). These calculations should only be used as an estimation of power, not as a specification. The actual ICC should be verified during device operation, as this measurement is sensitive to the actual pattern in the device and the environmental operating conditions.
Instructions for Using the Cyclone PowerPlay Early Power Estimator
Note: To use the Cyclone PowerPlay early power estimator, Microsoft Excel must be installed on your PC.
- Download the Cyclone PowerPlay early power estimator to your desktop or desired folder, and open the spreadsheet. (Choose "Enable Macros" in the pop-up box.)
- Select the target Cyclone device and package from the drop-down box in the Device section.
- Enter in the requested values for any power consumption section and clock domain. ICC and P values are calculated automatically, and an ICC and P subtotal are given for each section. To get help with the column categories or values to be entered, click on the cell in question.
Note: A macro is embedded within the Cyclone PowerPlay early power estimator that allows you to reset all user-entered values. If you disable the macro, you will need to reset all user-entered values manually.
